22 Apr 1995 . . . Day of Year: 112

<HR size=6>

Event Information

Event Description

A few prominences are visible in this area, as well as a couple of filaments on the disk approaching the limb. A surge occurs on the limb at PA 260, reaching a height of ~1.06 solar radii. Material can be seen falling to the limb in various areas near the central polar angle of the CME (PA 275).

Event Properties

Start/Stop Times of activity: from ~17:30 to ~18:30 UT
Position Angle span of the various prominences : ~260-270 [degrees]
Speed : Not applicable [km/sec]
Maximum distance from limb : 1.15 [solar radii]

H-Alpha Image Types

There are 2 kinds of images of this event for you to access on this page.

* LIMB - Prominences on the limb are visible while an occulting disk in the telescope blocks the disk of the sun. Both limb and disk are both taken in the line of Hydrogen alpha, 656.3 nm.

* DISK images - Filaments on the disk of the sun are visible while the occulting disk is removed and a narrow band filter (0.7 Angstroms) is placed in the optical path of the telescope.
