Daily Summary of COMP data for May 31, 2017

Event(s) on this observation date:
(culled from the 2017 event table; a green triangle indicates downloadable movies of the event)
  • CORONAL MASS EJECTION (E limb) observed by KCor at 2202 - 2320 UT: faint, narrow CME with bright front from AR at the E limb, corresponds to a faint LASCO/C2 CME
  • CORONAL MASS EJECTION (E limb) observed by CoMP: series of outflows within the AR on the E limb starting at about 1755UT, 2056UT, and 2207UT noticeable in intensity and velocity

Coronal Multi-channel Polarimeter (CoMP)

FOV: 1.05 to 1.4 Rsun ; Spatial Resolution: 4.46 arcsec/pixel; Cadence: 5 sec to 1 min.
Simulated CoMP-like data can be generated with the FORWARD Model.
CoMP Intensity
CoMP Intensity
CoMP filtergrams provide calibrated coronal emission intensity in units of millionths of Bsun, where Bsun is the brightness of the solar disk.
571 1074nm images available

48 1079nm images available

CoMP Quick Inversion
CoMP QI sample
Each CoMP Quick Inversion file (one produced per day) includes the line center intensity, linear polarization and magnetic field azimuth. These three images are in one multi-image FITS file, using FITS extensions to hold multiple images (use a fits viewer that can parse these files, such as fv).

CoMP Full Inversion
CoMP Full Inv sample
Each CoMP Full Inversion file (one produced per day) includes the line center intensity, velocity, line width, B field, linear polarization, and azimuth. These six images are in one multi-image FITS file, using FITS extensions to hold multiple images (use a fits viewer that can parse these files, such as fv).
No 1074nm file available
